After running a bunch of split tests, I’ve found that there are two super-duper-easy tweaks that most course creators can make within 5 minutes and see huge results.
Tip #1 — Make sure your opt-in form headline speaks to the *dream outcome*
The big mistake I see a lot of course creators make with their headlines is that they put the focus on their lead magnet itself, rather than the transformation that it brings.
Example of doing this (wrong way; focus on lead magnet):
Example of the right way (focus on transformation / outcome):
Tip #2 — Inject Social Proof Into Your Headline
Social proof is generally an easy way to make your opt-in more compelling. My favorite way to do this (assuming the number is impressive/reassuring) is to list email subscribers.

Here are two tips for course creators that can double your email list growth rate within five minutes.
Tip number one: make sure that the headline on your opt in form speaks to the dream outcome that your prospect wants to achieve, not your lead magnet itself.
Tip number two: if you can inject social proof, ideally into your headline or otherwise into your opt in form, that’s a very easy way to drive extra conversions.
So here’s an example. Pretend you have a lead magnet, kind of like this. You can see that the headline is very much focused on the lead magnet itself. Uh, but no one cares about a free opt ins mini course. They care about growing their email list. So if I were to change this to be what it currently is, it would say this double your email list growth rate in 29 minutes.
So we’re attaching it to the dream outcome. Even better would probably be if I could speak to like earn more money by increasing your opt ins, but it’s a little bit kind of far removed. So this is. easier to test for me. If I wanted to layer in social proof, I would do something like this. Join XYZ number of creators who’ve doubled their email list growth rate.
I can’t personally do this because I just launched this thing and there are not this many creators. So you have to do this based on the size of your email list. An example of where I will do this, I’m running
some A B tests for Entrepreneur on Fire right now. This is their old form that I’m going to be changing.
If I go into the analytics for all time, we see that it’s had 21, 673 conversions. So I can use that exact number in this style. So I’ll probably run something next. That’s like join 21,673 entrepreneurs who are building lives of freedom. I might test something like that. I’m going to try to layer in some more specificity.
Um, but nonetheless, I’m going to tie that into the headline somehow, uh, and run a test and see how we can compare it to this. 2% or 1.79 historical. So
hopefully this was helpful for you and you got some good ideas.
Uh, click the link below the video to download my opt-in scorecard where you can rate your current opt-in forms to get really good clarity on exactly what you should improve. And it goes a bit beyond what we talked about today. With this alone, I’m quite confident that you could double your email opt-in rate.
